An indie AI journaling app, built with care.
Confidants is a one-person project, reviewed by clinicians. Here is who built it, why it exists, and what it is and is not.
Why I built Confidants
I built Confidants because I needed something that could help me get through a difficult time in my life, when I had trouble expressing my thoughts and feelings to the people closest to me. I needed another in-between to help sort things out. Confidants was the solution I wish I had.
I now use Confidants myself extensively, and I'm constantly finding ways to improve it. It's been a real help for me, and I hope it can be for you too. Mental health matters deeply to me, and I think it's becoming ever more important in our everyday lives.
It's important to me to deliver the best possible product for you, but I can't do it without your help. There's a feedback button in settings. Use it to share anything that would make Confidants better. Together, I think we can make a real difference in accessible mental health tools.
What Confidants is
Confidants is an AI journaling app. You talk or type to a confidant of your choice, and the conversation becomes a journal entry you can look back on. You can create multiple confidants for different parts of your life, each with a personality that suits the way you want to be heard.
Every prompt, every personality definition, and every safety guideline in the app is reviewed by a board of licensed mental health professionals. Their role is design-oriented and non-clinical.
What Confidants is not
Confidants is not therapy. It is not a substitute for a relationship with a licensed clinician. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. If you are in crisis, please contact a professional or emergency service in your area.
The clinicians who advise this project do not provide care to users through the app. They review the design from a clinical perspective so the app can hold up better when it matters.
Who built it
Confidants is built and operated by Wayne Studios LLC, a Texas company founded and run by Nolan Wayne. It's an indie project, built without venture capital, shaped by user feedback and clinical review.
